Martin Messier’s expressive gestures ‘activate’ the sonic and aesthetic potential of everyday objects. This year at MUTEK, Messier and Parisian artist Yro (aka Élie Blanchard) present ASHES, a new audiovisual work exploring waste, residue, and disintegration through projection, cameras, microscopes, lights, and motors. In this session, the pair will discuss their interests, workflow, and the fire-struck residency that inspired their collaboration with HOLO magazine editor Greg J. Smith.
Presented with the support of the Consulate General of France in Québec.
This event takes place in English.
