MUTEK Montréal is Primed for Edition 19

Now firmly planted in the verdant, deep of summer, MUTEK Montréal bursts into bloom with its 19th edition, running August 22 to 26 in the heart of downtown. Since its inception the festival has privileged the presentation of live electronic music and audiovisual performances, underlining the immediacy and ingenuity of contemporary artistic practices that intersect with technology. This edition adds another focus—women in digital arts and electronic music—with a significant representation of female artists in the performance program, along with a special two-day symposium.

Renowned for its exceptional presentation standards and a curatorial approach that draws equally from international and national talent, always aiming to deliver revelation and discovery to festival-goers, MUTEK Montréal continues to operate in a human-scale, community-minded context.

Welcome Address by the Minister of Canadian Heritage

"For the past 19 years, MUTEK Montréal has been an essential event for fans of electronic and alternative music in Quebec. It sets itself apart through the quality and originality of its featured artists.

In addition to being a springboard for our artists looking to break into markets outside Canada and reach international audiences, this gathering fosters innovation and helps boost Montréal’s reputation as a centre for culture and technology. That is why the Government of Canada is pleased to support this event once again this year.

As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, I would like to thank everyone who dedicated their time and energy to making the 19th edition of MUTEK possible. Best wishes for a successful festival!"

--- The Honourable Pablo Rodiguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage

I extend a warm welcome all the artists gathered in Montréal for the 19th edition of MUTEK.

Welcome Address by the Mayor of Montreal

As a creative city and city of digital arts, Montreal is proud to host this high-caliber cultural event that also creates links between several creative mediums, inviting Montrealers to experience an unusual, contemporary and experimental form of art. This year, MUTEK is shining the spotlight on women in digital arts and electronic music – even more reason to celebrate and to make discoveries!

I want to thank all the artists and creators who work in the field of new technologies for building bridges by sharing their talent. And I congratulate the organizers of this festival, which has become a must-attend event in Montreal.

Enjoy a wonderful festival!

---  Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montreal
