Sebastián Verea directs the area of Sound Arts at the National University of San Martin, and the postgraduate course in Expanded Music at the Mauricio Kagel Arts Institute. His research focuses on the dialogue of art with science and technology, specifically in the field of sound.
He is the composer of more than twenty original works for theater and dance. As a composer and solo performer, he performed at festivals such as SONAR Buenos Aires and Yellow Lounge by Deusthce Grammophon, and along with artists such as the Bavarian Symphony Chamber Orchestra and the soprano Nadja Michael in Berlin (Radialsystem V), Avital Avi and Sven Helbig
His institutional collaborations include Julliard School (Coordinator of the avatar creation team for Cracked Orlando), the Institut de Recherche et coordination Acoustique / Musique (IRCAM) of Paris (organizer of the IRCAM forum in Buenos Aires), GRAME (Lyon) and the Center for Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Governance (C-EENRG) of the University of Cambridge (research project that led to the development of the Anthropocene Sound installation).
His works have been presented at exhibitions and theaters in Buenos Aires, Berlin, Edinburgh, Mexico, Rome and Torino, among other cities.
For MUTEK.AR Edition 2, Verea will be the head behind the ARTLAB 3D SOUND activities, which include his performance with a string quartet at CCK plus curating the call for submissions for this sound spatiality project together with German software MNTN.
